The annual Loy Krathong festival will take place in Pattaya on Monday 2 November and on Friday Police Lieutenant-Colonel Sutum, the deputy commander of Soi 9 station, held a press conference to outline some of the measures that will be undertaken by his officers over the festivities. He noted that any business or person caught selling fireworks to individuals will be subject to a minimum 1,000 baht fine and a possible one-month spell in a specially reserved prison cell. He said anyone who had fireworks already would be able to use them but he warned if they caused injury to another person police would take the view the injured person had been assaulted and prosecute alleged offenders. Pattaya will be experiencing a weekend of festivities with Halloween parties taking place on Friday night and the lead-up to Loy Krathong on Saturday and Sunday.
