An Army reserve officer hung herself from a tree located next to the Train Track in East Pattaya on Thursday afternoon. Police and rescue workers were called to the area close to Soi Neun Plub Wan and saw the body of Reserve Sub Lieutenant Promreutong aged 30, hanging from a high branch in the tree. She was initially seen climbing the tree by passers-by who were powerless to prevent her from hanging herself. One man did attempt to climb the tree and help her but she died before the man could attempt a rescue. Clenched in her right hand was the key to a motorbike she had rented from a shop in the Banglamung area. Police did mention that she pulled up on her motorbike and attempted to cross the road on-foot twice and was nearly run over by cars. She did eventually jump the central reservation barrier and climbed the tree but no one thought she was going to kill herself until one man realized what was going to happen and began to climb the tree but was unable to stop her.
