Chonburi Provincial Police conducted a raid of a shop in Soi Beokeow, Central Pattaya on Wednesday evening. The officers were in possession of a search warrant for the shop located at the Grand Hall Market where the manager and staff members were detained by Police who discovered thousands of counterfeit branded items worth millions of Baht which were being sold from the location. Wallets, belts, and other items featuring logos of Lacoste, Billabong, Jack Daniels and other well known brands were seized as evidence and legal proceedings against the owner of the business are under-way.

Its that time of month…upcoming fees for July and everyone has fees to pay. Even the BIB.

  • pete

Counterfeit and Thailand, is like eggs with toast!C’mon, from every 10 market stalls in soi buakhow, 9 selling fake items, so why all the fuzz??

  • tom

I think there are at least 1000 more places selling counterfeit but if people want to buy junk let them do so.As they say buyer be aware

  • Mark

I have and will carry on buying copy merchandise in Thailand, some things are equal quality to originals. After all many of the people who post on here are cheap Charlies anyway.

  • Wally

Somewhat counter-productive. Finding something that’s not a knock-off in the country would be a chore. All this does is bring attention to what is going on everywhere. We all understand why this man was singled out, it just makes more people realize the depth of the corruption.

…that’s their source of income..they won’t be there in the first place if no one buys them…even if they raid those shops they will be back again after a few days.

  • Deadhorse

Find it suprising how long these shops last without being raided.only takes one unhappy customer to complain to police and all stock gone.

  • Jake

“”"”.only takes one unhappy customer to complain to police and all stock gone.”"”"

Nonsense. There is no unhappy customer to complain, as if that would prompt any action from the police….It was just his turn. They all have to pay the bashkeesh every month. This was for the camera and to document for statistics. He probably will be given a reprieve from one or two of the monthly fees as compensation when he opens back up in a couple weeks. He’s probably thrilled that his turn came up during the low-season instead of later in the year.

  • weasel

mark,im one of those many people.why just waste good money on something that will be old hat in a few months time?long live the cheap charlies!

  • Robert

Keep harassing the bars, the prostitutes and the people who sell counterfeit stuff, without those I cannot think of any reason for anyone to come to Pattaya.
Why bot solve some real crimes?

  • Gwats

    Fake stuff in Thailand?
    Say it isn’t so !

  • kk

Why are certain places targeted by police.
    Intimidation, extortion, payback?

It obvious that crime fighting is low on the list.

  • Aussie Bill

Why would anyone in their right mind Pay big bucks for a genuine pair of Nike Trainers when they are made in China or Vietnam sweat shops? The day of Designer Labels is over.Even if your duds are genuine, People will look at you and say what a Jerk.Mine look every bit as good as yours and cost half the Price.
I’ll buy a good Copy and keep the change

  • Deadhorse

    Aussie Bill,
I don’t think I can afford even fake designer running shoes, I always buy reliable, good cheaper brand
Mid and out soles will wear out approx at the same time.needing six pairs a year would cost me too much.Fakes look good for normal use but I don’t want to “come unstuck”if shoes come unstuck ten miles from home.

  • Aussie Bill

Deadhorse, Stick to your Sandals and Black Sox.Carn’t afford imitations?
There is a second hand clothing store over the road from Soi Bhawkao Market.Just the thing for Cheap Charlies.
