Just before 5am on Monday, Banglamung Police were called to Soi Bangnongmanow in Banglamung sub-district to investigate a fatal shooting. At the scene, the body was found at the edge of a pond located behind the house of the victim, Khun Apichart aged 28 who had been shot twice in his back and arm. A neighbor alerted Police after hearing the gun-shots; they heard a total of 2 gun shots but did not see the shooter, who left seconds after the shooting. The victim’s wife was working at a local market when she received a call regarding the death of her Husband. She revealed that he was gambling on FIFA World Cup matches since the competition started and owed the main organizer of the football gambling operation a substantial amount of money which he was unable to pay back. His Wife believes her husband was shot because of the outstanding debt. Police are investigating.
