On Wednesday afternoon at Pattaya Police Station, Police Colonel Nantawoot, the Chief of Pattaya Police, held a press conference along with officers from the Anti-Human Trafficking Division, to announce the arrest of a 48 year old woman accused of sending Thai woman to other countries for the purpose of working as prostitutes. At the press conference was one of three women, Khun Sintorn aged 22, who was promised work in a Spa in Malaysia by Khun Tanaporn. Two other women were also sent over to work in Yohor Province in Southern Malaysia but when they arrived they were told that they were in debt for an amount of 75,000 Baht. To ensure safe passage back to Thailand, they would have to pay back at least 50,000 Baht and were told that the only way they could do this is by working as prostitutes. Khun Sintorn wanted to return to Thailand and informed her captures that a family member had passed away and she needed to return to Thailand. They accepted her request and she made her way back to Pattaya and reported the case to Pattaya Police who duly arrested the agent, Khun Tanaporn at the Central Festival Pattaya Beach after the victim tricked the agent into a meeting to discuss her return to Malaysia and her being able to provide more young women to work there. Police were there and arrested Khun Tanaporn and took her over the road to the Police Station where she was charged with a number of human trafficking offences.
