Just after daybreak on Thursday, Pattaya Police received information of a theft of a purse which had taken place on Pattaya Third Road close to the Sophon Market. The suspect had fled to the Sukumvit Road and had been apprehended at a Petrol Station in Soi Kow Noi thanks to motorbike taxi drivers who spotted the theft and gave chase. Khun Ransan aged 31, who appeared in a drunken state, explained that he had spent the evening at a Karaoke Bar and had run out of money to purchase petrol for his motorbike which had almost run dry. He approached a Police Officer and asked him for 40 Baht so he could purchase petrol but the officer refused to give him the money. As he drove his bike along Pattaya Third Road he spotted a woman clutching her purse, riding as passenger on a bike. He snatched the purse and fled towards the main Sukumvit Road but the bike he was on ran out of petrol and he was forced to push the bike towards the petrol station in Soi Kow Noi. He was apprehended by members of the public who then called the Police. Khun Ransan confessed to the theft and realized he had made a big mistake. He was later transferred to Pattaya Police Station for processing.
