High level Thai-Cambodian Talks in North Pattaya

27th November 2009

On Thursday at the Dusit Thani Resort in North Pattaya, two days of talks began between Senior Government Officials and members of the military from Thailand and Cambodia regarding issues relating to the border between both countries and the recent arrest of a Thai Worker in Cambodia who is accused of passing on flight information to Thai Officials, relating to a flight taken by Thaksin Shinawatra, Thailand’s former Prime Minister. The General Border Committee Meeting (Special Session) was chaired by Thailand’s Defense Minister, General Bowit and his Cambodian counterpart, General Diaban. The two days of talks will discuss the current situation at the border crossings and increased cooperation between both countries relating to regulation of border trading. One aspect that has come from the talks so far is that both sides are determined to keep the peace and will not allow recent problems to affect their ongoing relationship.
