Pattaya City Hall employee caught with class 1 drugs

8th March 2010

On Sunday, Banglamung Police received word of a Blue Mitsubishi Car which had failed to stop at a Police Checkpoint. It was eventually located driving at speed along the road which runs adjacent to the train track along the Eastern side of Pattaya, close to the Pattaya Railway Station. The vehicle and its driver was ordered to pull over. The driver, Khun Gampon aged 33, complied and confessed to being in possession of two bags of crystal methamphetamine known here in Thailand as “Ya Ice”. The suspect was arrested and was found to be carrying an ID Badge issued by Pattaya City Hall, where he works for the Technical Services Department. Khun Gampon was taken to the Police Station where he claimed he paid 2,000 Baht for the two bags from a man known as Khun Yai who lives in Soi Nong Get Yai in Banglamung. The suspect did try and negotiate a deal with the Police to avoid being prosecuted without success. He was charged with possession of a class 1 drug and locked up pending a court appearance.
