Pattaya Police Officer shoots himself in Police Residence next to Police Station

5th March 2010

On Thursday Evening, Police received disturbing news of a suspected suicide of one of their fellow officers in the Police Residential Block located next to Pattaya Police Station on Pattaya Beach. The assigned Investigating Officer was Police Lieutenant Colonel Samlan who was joined by Forensic Police Officers from Chonburi Police Headquarters. Inside the room, on the bed, was the body of Police Senior Sergeant Major Suporn aged 48. He had sustained a single gun shot wound to his left chest which is though to have been self administered. The weapon, thought to have been used in the attack was next to the body and was found to be registered to the officer. Powder Burns on the victims hands and around the wound suggested the officer shot himself with the gun pressing against his chest when he pulled the trigger. The body was found by the victim’s son who had just returned from school. The victim’s Wife, Khun Maliwan explained to Police that her Husband had just been diagnosed with Heart Disease which was affecting his work. A suicide letter was found in which he apologized to his family and work colleagues for taking his own life but he did not want to become a burden on his family in the future. Police confirmed the death was a suicide with no suspicion of third party involvement.

a police ooficer who killed himself, was obviously forced to do so,due to his bad performance at his work, its seems he did something bad to someone who doesnt deserve,in the end he regereted and felt ashamed against his honest oath during his police academy graduation, its a PHSYCHLOGICAL ACT,he was guilty of himself

  2. Phumy says:

A very selfish attitude and more that likely he was unstable in the head, why take your own life? Only the very weak minded take their own lives, which places more burden on those left behind, theyre the ones i feel sorry for…..

  3. Karl says:

Police work is hard, no matter what country you are in. Sometimes officers commit suicide because of doing bad things they should not, no pity then. But when someone takes his own life because feels he will be burden on others because of health, this is so sad. Condolences to the family, friends and fellow officers.

A very sad case. It seems that the stress of being a Pattaya Police Officer was just too much to bear. I don’t consider the death suspicious and consider that the verdict is ‘killed by death’. Sincere condolences to all family and friends of the deceased.
