Man found sitting and praying in the middle of the road next to local Temple

3rd March 2010

An unusual sight led to local residents calling in the Police on Wednesday Morning after a Thai Man sat in the road and began to pray, only meters away from the entrance to the Sattahip Temple, just outside of Pattaya. The man, later named as Khun Sureeyar aged 33 from Chaiyapoom Province in the North-East of Thailand, told us that as he walked past the Temple, something inside him told him to stop and pray. The man’s back was full of religious tattoos and he believes that a spirit connected to one of the tattoos told him to stop and pray. He had been praying for more than one hour and was clearly feeling the effects of exposure to the hot sun and was eventually led away by a Police Officer who offered the man a lift to the nearest Police Station.

Honestly, a story about a man who sat down in the roadway? Really really really slow news day, huh guys?

That’s not worth mentioning, but how could they overlook the big story that’s being told within this story. Listen to this quote: “…only meters away from the entrance to the Sattahip Temple, just outside of Pattaya.”

The real news is that they’ve move Sattahip. It used to be quite a distance away from Pattaya — 30 kilometers or so, but now they’ve apparently moved it JUST OUTSIDE PATTAYA. Now you talk about “Amazing Thailand” What other country could move an entire city and naval base overnight without anyone noticing. I’m very impressed!

Note from Admin: Actually Sattahip District starts at the far-end of Jomtien Beach, which is less than 4 Kms from the center of Pattaya, although Sattahip City is around 30kms from Pattaya :-)
