Asian Tourist drugged and robbed on Pattaya Beach

5th February 2010

In the early hours of Friday Morning, Police and Rescue Services were called to a bench close to Public Toilets at the location of the old Pier approximately 20 meters from the entrance to Walking Street following the discovery of an Asian Tourist who was lying on the bench in an unconscious state and appeared to have been robbed of his possessions. The man aged around 40 could not be woken-up and was taken to Hospital where Doctors believed he had been given drugs to render him in the state he was in, however further tests were underway to confirm this. Khun Nitkawoot aged 16, explained to Police that he spotted the man and assumed he was sleeping. He was approached by three men separately who appeared to remove items from his pockets, including a mobile phone and some cash. The three men were all wearing black cloths and were carrying two way radios and handcuffs. They were challenged by the 16 year old and were told that they were Police. It was thought that they were Police Volunteers rather than Police, however checks with the Tourist Police confirmed that there were 5 Thai Volunteers on duty at that time and they were all wearing Blue Tourist Police Volunteer Military Style Uniforms and were all working on Walking Street and at no time patrolled along the Beach. Information from Pattaya Police regarding their volunteers and where they were working at that time could not be obtained. Police suspect the man may have been drugged in a nearby bar and the three men seized the opportunity and stole items from the unconscious tourist. Police are now investigating and are hoping to catch the three suspects in due course.

Why blame the police ? 5 so called police in uniform with radios etc… dont sound like fakes to me, id say he prob wanted to s*** some ladyboy c*** and got more than he expected and made the story up, like most idiots in pattaya a fool and there money are easy parted. Ive been coming to Pattaya for many years and never felt threatened, even walking down beach road at night on my own, be polite and walk on and they wont bother you, learn how to say no thankyou in thai and half of your troubles will go away.

I agree with the previous printer.
Is there anything that you want to do in Pattaya to do nothing bad. I’m there for vacation. :-)

  6. Kent Berger says:

If you are unable to cross the street itself. Who can help you. If you do not say no to the features, who will help you .. If you want to come back home, who will help you. So try to understand, no help you. That is how you survive.

  7. TPV says:

Maybe if the Police or the Police volunteers did in fact patrol the beach area this would never happen? Why does all the Police have to be stationed in Walking Street? To me it must be the safest place due to the amount of people, police stationed there or not…

It’s getting dangerous for newbies and experienced tourists in Thailand.. Pattaya is a great place to visit, but you’ve got to keep your guard up at all times. This could have happened in Las Vegas. USA. I use the ‘buddy system’ in Pattaya or Engage a lady from a known Bar or Restaurant to escort me around @ night. Guys, don’t be cheap or end up like this loser. The local ladies are delightful and fun companions, and they might keep you from being robbed or ending up with a transsexual in your hotel room @ 2AM. OOPS!
A second pair of local, experienced eyes are well worth the money and you’ll be putting food on some local family’s table also. Bottom line…. Don’t be a cheap a*s!
