Suspected stolen Buddhist Statue found in woodland in North Pattaya

2nd February 2010

Early on Tuesday Police were called to an area of wasteland located in North Pattaya following the discovery of a golden Buddhist Statue which had appeared in the wooded area. Upon closer inspection, the statue was on metal stilts which appeared to have been sawn off a permanent base. Immediately Police suspected the statue had been stolen and then placed in the area as the item was unable to be sold on without attracting attention to those that stole it. Local Residents were questioned and did remember seeing a pick-up in the area but were unable to provide any further information to Police who are now looking into the statue and its origin as they ultimately look to arrest those responsible for its apparent theft.
