Spirits are high as 6,000 Navy Soldiers converge on Pattaya.
Following a particularly bad low season, according to many business owners, the sight of an estimated 6,000 US Navy Soldiers converging on Walking Street was a welcomed sight. On Friday Night, soldiers from the USS Abraham Lincoln and USS Russell, which are docked at Laem Chabang Port, enjoyed the first of 3 nights of liberty here in Pattaya. Local Police Divisions were on-hand to assist the Shore Patrol Officers to ensure that the excited soldiers enjoyed their first night in Pattaya. Apart from a few minor incidents, everyone was well-behaved according to US Officials and the Tourist Police based on Walking Street. It is thought that the three day visit will inject around 100 Million Baht into the local economy.
