Pattaya Bars in darkness as 3 days of mourning for Princess begins.

Friday was the first of three days or mourning for Her Royal Highness Princess Galyani Wattana who passed away in January of this year. On Saturday the final cremation ceremony for the late Princess took place in Bangkok. On Friday Night and in accordance with a letter issued by the Chief of Banglamung District, Khun Mongkol, the majority of bars and disco’s were either closed or running with reduced entertainment. The majority of outdoor beer bars had their lights and music turned-off although they were serving alcohol. All discotheques were closed as were many go-go bars. Although there were some indoor bars, especially on Walking Street trading as normal, on Saturday Night all bars are expected to close and it is expected that the majority of bars will operate as normal on Sunday Night depending on how each bar owner interprets the written instructions given to them by the District Chief.
