Pattaya Ready for Loy Krathong says Deputy Mayor.
Pattaya media were invited to City Hall on Tuesday morning to interview Khun Ronagit, one of the deputy mayor’s, in order for him to impart information regarding the state of preparedness for the Loy Krathong festival which will take place on Wednesday 12th November.
Khun Ronagit told the media the city was as ready as it ever could be for the celebrations, with the Bali Hai port area all spruced up. The stages, lighting, and giant speakers have been set up to host the Miss and Mister Loy Krathong competitions as well as room for the various live bands and other entertainment. If the wind is blowing right it may be possible to hear the entertainment in Banglamung.
The deputy mayor has asked families to use only one krathong per family in a bid to reduce the amount of rubbish that needs to be cleaned up after an event of this magnitude. He also asked people to purchase or make natural krathongs, made of material like banana leaves, rather than the usual foam, which is environmentally unfriendly and takes up a lot of space in the landfills.
As far as security is concerned, checkpoints have been set up all over the city and it is probably advisable to leave the car at home as traffic flow will almost certainly be impeded.
