Illegal Foreign Tour Guides to be targeted by local Police divisions.
On Wednesday Afternoon at Pattaya City Hall, Khun Wirawat, Deputy Mayor of Pattaya chaired a meeting to discuss the problems with illegal tour guides operating here in Pattaya. In attendance was Khun Niti, the Director of the Tourism Authority of Thailand Region 3 and Police Lieutenant Colonel Suwan, the Inspector-in-Charge of the Pattaya Tourist Police. They were joined by representatives from the Tour Guide Association of Pattaya and local government officials. It was confirmed in the meeting that illegal Russian Tour Guides are being targeted at this time and companies that employ such illegal tour guides must employ Thai nationals from now on and if caught using Russian Tour Guides, they will be arrested for working in Thailand without a work permit. The Labor Department of Chonburi, The Immigration Police and Tourist Police will work together to ensure that all illegal tour guides are located and prosecuted.
