1 dead and 2 seriously injured in high speed road crash on Highway 36.
Just before Dawn on Saturday, Police Lieutenant Colonel Sompong from the Baan Chan Police Station in Rayong Province was called to the scene of a road accident on Highway 36, involving a pick-up and a motorbike. The motorbike driver was killed in the crash and the pick-up driver and motorbike passenger were seriously injured. Following the collision between the two vehicles, the pick-up, a Nissan NV, driven by Khun Torap aged 28 caught fire and although badly injured, he managed to escape from the vehicle just in time. Khun Anon aged 25, the motorbike driver was killed upon impact and his passenger Khun Art aged 27 was seriously injured and remains on a ventilator at this time. The pick-up drive explained to Police that he did not see the motorbike in front if him as the bikes front and rear lights were not switched on. Other witness account confirm this and Police are expected to take no further action in the case, despite the fatality.
